Robots on Payroll is a twice-weekly newsletter for people putting AI to work: builders, vibe coders, operators, and the AI-curious who are done just reading about it.

It's written by Jonathan: not a developer, a commercial guy who started building. Ten years of automation workflows, a day job in AI, and a few hundred thousand dollars earned from apps built with AI and stubbornness rather than a computer science degree.

The editorial rules are simple: real workflows, step by step. Which model to hire for which job. Honest math on what things cost. Receipts when we've tested something with our own money, and a plain "we haven't tested this" when we haven't. No hype without numbers, no tool worship, no "everyone will be replaced" doom.

The publication was formerly AI Industry Insider, built to 34,000 readers before changing hands and direction in mid-2026.
